Employees that have worked for a company for over one year of continuous service must receive a mandatory annual paid vacation. .
Vacations should be taken as no less than 12 days per year and should increase by 2 days up to 20 days total. After 6 years of service, employees' vacation period increases 2 days per year for every 5 years of employment.
Employees are entitled to a bonus payment of ¼ their normal salary when they are on vacation. Employers must give employees their vacation time within 6 months after each year of service and all vacation time should be used. Some employers choose to give employees a vacation bonus in the summer time as an added part of their salary and should stipulate this bonus in the employment contract.
In addition to full-time employees, seasonal and part-time employees are still entitled to vacation leave. Vacation leave for these employees should according l to the amount of working days they’ve given a company per year.
Holidays in Mexico should not be compensated with remuneration. If an employee is terminated, they are entitled to remuneration for time served.

There is no mandated amount of time that an employee is allowed medical leave in Mexico. They are entitled to 1-52 days of medical leave for illness. After 52, weeks it falls into the disability category and varies based on the degree of time off. Medical leave is paid directly to the employee through the Mexican social security institute (IMSS).
